[TRAILER] Desert Blues: Saharan Songs of Resistance

Almost a year after filming, my video report on desert blues will soon be released by The Modern Insurgent

This short documentary details the insurgent origins of desert blues, a unique music genre pioneered by the Tuareg, nomads of the Sahara. My reporting took me to Morocco last October to attend one of the world’s largest annual desert blues festivals, where I spoke with musicians in the scene to gain insight into the relationship between cultural resistance and musical creation.
